Magento 2 German Language Pack is a helpful document that is donated by Mageplaza. The package will contain two steps (Download & Contribute and Install) to point out how you can apply German Language on the storefront and backend of Magento 2 store. All phrases are contributed by Magento 2 translation project at Crowdin.

Below are two active buttons which are required operations before installing the language package. Let’s hit them to download and contribute Magento 2 German Language Pack immediately!
Install the German language pack via composer is really easier.
Install German pack:
composer require mageplaza/magento-2-german-language-pack:dev-master php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy de_DE php bin/magento cache:flush
Update German pack:
composer update mageplaza/magento-2-german-language-pack:dev-master php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy de_DE php bin/magento cache:flush
Install the German language pack via command line.
Download the language file to your installation root directory. Now run the following command:
wget https://github.com/mageplaza/magento-2-german-language-pack/raw/master/de_DE.csv php bin/magento i18n:pack -m replace de_DE.csv de_DE php bin/magento setup:static-content:deploy de_DE php bin/magento cache:flush
As a result, a directory langpack will be created that contains proper structure of language files for your installation. Copy it over to your Magento installation and the translations should be visible.
Note: additional directory i18n contains strings for which the module could not be found in your installation. This file can be skipped.
Now time to activate the language pack for your Magento 2 store. From Magento 2 admin panel, navigate to
Stores > Configuration > General > Locale Options
Select German (Germany) and click
