Odoo will take you to a page with previously published quotes from your company. To begin this process, please click the Create button here.
The new Quotation requires the following fields to be completed:
- Customer: The name of the individual who made the purchase order. Based on the provided contact information, the Invoice Address, Delivery Address, Payment Terms, and Delivery Method will populate from the database; however, they can still be manually changed if necessary.
- Invoice Address: This is the address to which the invoice for this order will be sent.
- Delivery Address: The address to which the product will be delivered.
- Quotation Template: An example of a quotation that already includes optional and specific products.
- Expiration: The period of time after which the terms and payments in this quotation expire.
- Date of Quotation: This is the date the order was sent or prepared as a draft.
- Pricelist: Whether a particular pricing list has been applied to this consumer.

- Payment Terms: The specifications and dates that specify when payment for this order is due.
The field that will decide what our quotation deadline is will be the Expiration field. When you click on it, a calendar will open for you.
Based on potential changes in the market value of the goods we have included in the quotation, we can make the decision on how long the deadline should be. Alternatively, we can adjust the quotation expiry in accordance with any other goals.
All you have to do to complete your new quotation is click the Save button when you are satisfied with the information you put in. When the expiration date is established, the customer portal will also show it, which will promptly inform them on when to complete the payment.
Step 2. Use deadline in your quotation templates
Beside including a deadline in your quotation, you are also able to add the deadline to every quotation template you have created as well! The Quotation Templates menu is found in the Sales app of the Configuration tab, and it may be accessed there in the quickest manner.
Click the Quotation Templates button indicated above to create a new template. Once there, you can choose from a selection of templates and work on them by going to the Quotation Templates page.
Choose an existing template from the list and click Edit to edit or modify it. Click Create to add a new template. The following fields will be available for you to fill up on the quotation template creation form:
- Quotation Template: For later use, give the template a name that precisely describes its contents.
- Quote expires after: Give the client a deadline in days to accept quotes made using this template.
- Company: You can only allow one company to access this quotation template. To make this form available to all businesses, leave it blank.
As for this method, we will focus on the Quote expires after field. When it comes to setting a deadline using a quotation template, you can only set it as how many days after the quotation is sent until it is no longer valid. On the contrary, the previous way allows you to set a specific date as your deadline. Therefore, you can use these 2 methods interchangeably depending on your needs.
It is important to note that, even if the quotation has passed its expiration date and the customer is unable to confirm it, a salesperson working on the system’s back end can still confirm it and move it onto the next step, if desired.
When you are done with this section, please configure the rest of the template as per usual. If you are done with computing the three tabs underneath, simply click the Save button to validate the template.
Remember, you can go back to this specific template to change the expiration date, or if you want a brand new quotation template, simply repeat this process. Another tip is that you can view the offer’s expiration date by selecting the Customer Preview option. The number of days will be the same as what is stated in the quotation template, only for your information.
