Subsequently, the admin should tick the field Enclosure to enclose the value in the column. If you do not tick the checkbox, the system will apply default value which is apostrophe(“).

While the scrolling option to find category can be time-consuming, you can utilize the searching tool to check the categories by Category Name/ Category Codes field for faster checking. The process is simple with 2 steps which are filling the product name and pressing the Search button or type enter to proceed with the searching process.

With the result after the filter process, it is time to choose to export the values of specific attributes by inserting the value in the Filter column. Or, you can find a category to exclude before exporting most of the existed categories by clicking on the Exclude column.

Export data and check exported CSV files

When you have finished with preparing the data, scrolling down to the bottom of the page and select the Continue button on the left to export file. And, admins have to remember to click Save to store the export file.

Finally, it is time for a checkup!

You can view and edit the imported data in the export CSV file.


Note: If you want to reimport the Export File, there are some cases you need to stay notice:

  • If you’re going to edit some export fields before importing like store_id, is_active, parent, include_in_menu
    • Store_id: This value in the Export file is admin when you import it to “0”.
    • Parent: You need to keep in mind that the value parent cannot be similar to the value category_id.
    • Is_active: The value of this field which is Yes/No will convert to 1/0 when it is imported
    • Include_in_menu: the value of the fields in the export file is Yes/No. After you import it convert into 1/0.
  • When you follow all the steps correctly and still stuck with an issue depicted in the below picture, then you can follow this solution:

  • You need to drag to the left to find and delete the column in the exported file that I listed here:
    • “Attribute_set_id”
    • “Parent_id”
    • “path”
    • “product_count”
  • After the exporting process has finished, a notification will appear:
